JANUARY salon marketing plan

The month of transformation & resolutions

January is a month of new beginnings and what better way to delight clients than to offer some new year specials?

Important dates to remember

1st - New Year's Day
The Salon Awards open

Promotional ideas

Social media contest: Consider a hair or beauty makeover competition via your social media channels. Invite followers to comment on your post sharing why they need to win a makeover and encourage them to comment, like, and share the post to enter the contest. This creates a fun buzz as the year starts and promotes your salon to new clients.

January service specials: Offer a discount on certain services to engage new clients and re-engage existing ones. It might be 10 % off a specific service or a free mini treatment (like a hair conditioning treatment or mini-mani with every booking.)

January sale: January, sometimes known as Janu-worry can be a time when we all feel the pinch after the festivities. Run a January sale where you spotlight certain products or offer clients bundle offers on specific treatments. This can inject some much-needed cash flow into your salon, boost team morale as you get more bookings, and allow clients to start the year with a spoil.

FEBRUARY salon marketing ideas

The month of love & romance

February is the month of romance and it's time to celebrate all types of love. Whether you're celebrating that special someone, your best friend, or yourself, it's time for spoils galore!

Important dates to remember

Black History Month
13th Galentine's Day
14th Valentine's Day
16th-20th London Fashion Week
18th BAFTA Film Awards
28th Leap Year

Promotional Ideas

V-Day salon spoils: Consider including some romantic touches to your service in Valentine's Week. Think heart-shaped biscuits, little choccies with refreshments, and hand-written love notes showing your appreciation for your clients.

Galentine's Day offer: Run a Galentine's Day offer in Valentine's Week. If a client books an appointment and brings their bestie along, they each get a free add-on service or discount. Add a glass of prosecco or sparkling grape juice to sweeten the deal.

Valentine's Day bundle package: We all want to feel beautiful on Valentine's Day, so why not run a promotional package? If you have hair and beauty offerings, consider creating a package with hair and nail combos.

Selfie-corner in the salon: Your clients are one of your greatest marketing assets. The more they share and review your salon and show their genuine love for it, the more engagement your salon will get. Set up a curated 'selfie corner' and encourage clients to take selfies with their new styles and share them. Create a gorgeous Valentine's-inspired backdrop and ensure there's photo-worthy lighting so your clients look and feel fab!

Top tip: Remember to have a QR code nearby to direct clients to your salon's Instagram or Google Business Page.

Mother's Day promo: Celebrate those special mother figures by running a promo. This might be a special bundle package of pamper treatments or discounts on certain services. Have e-vouchers and physical vouchers available.

Women's Day goodie bags: Celebrate International Women's Day by showing your clients you care.  Give each client who visits the salon on Women's Day a specialised goodie bag. You don't have to spend a fortune, it's really just the thought that counts.  Think little chocolates, cute hair accessories, travel hairbrushes, hand creams, and sheet masks.

Celebrate the 'sheroes': Shine a spotlight on some of the amazing women on your team. Create an Instagram or Facebook post for each staff member and tell your followers why you appreciate them. Not only does this show your team how much you value them, but it also gives your followers a glimpse into the people behind the operation.

Mix-up the selfie corner: If you've created a selfie corner in your salon, it's time to revamp it to celebrate spring. Add gorgeous blooms and bright pops of colour and encourage your clients to snap that #SpringSalonSelfie.

Campion inclusivity: Celebrate Trans visibility by giving your transgender and gender non-binary clients a spot to shine. Share some amazing hairstyles you've created (with client consent of course), highlight transgender stylists and creators on your socials that you admire, or donate some of the month's proceeds to a local charity that advocates for transgender rights.
