Newsletters – NEW RULES

Please take note of the changes required when sending newsletters via Sendy.  These changes are necessary to try and avoid newsletters being marked as Spam by the recipients.  If we get too many high Spam notifications, there is a strong chance that site will be blocked from sending any further newsletters. The limits are: 0.3% marked as spam (complaint rate). 5% bounce rate.

Going forward, please do the following when creating and sending newsletters:

  • Run ALL new lists through NeverBounce.  If the level that needs to be cleaned is under 5% then that list is OK to be uploaded to Sendy and sent.

- If it is above 5%, provisionally upload it to Sendy and call it Bad List.  Download the Active Subscribers (see image below).  Run that Active Subscribers list through NeverBounce. If Active Subscribers are below 5%, the list can be used.

- If Active Subscribers are still above 5%, send it to Shane to be cleaned through NeverBounce.  (If Shane is not around - Jane or Sam can also do this for you). Client charges may apply - usually if they reach £20 plus.

  • If you have a list over 5k sitting on Sendy that has not been used for 6 months+, download it from Sendy and run it through NeverBounce.  Follow the same 5% rule as above.
  • When writing newsletters, do not use heavy capitalisation or punctuation & emojis in the Subject Line.
